Candidates for Bishop

Thank you for your interest in being considered as our 11th Bishop of The Episcopal Church in Colorado.

The Standing Committee of The Episcopal Church in Colorado is seeking applications from qualified clergy throughout The Episcopal Church for the position of Bishop Diocesan for The Episcopal Church in Colorado. We are also accepting nominations from individuals who believe a priest they know may possess the gifts necessary to serve as bishop. The Standing Committee has appointed a Search Committee to assist it in identifying a slate of qualified candidates for election to this ministry by the time of its Annual Convention in October 2018. In this role, the Search Committee will be the confidential contact point between candidates and The Episcopal Church in Colorado.

Interested persons are invited to read carefully and reflect prayerfully on the profile; the three sections of this profile describe Who We Are, What We Believe, & Whom We Seek

Priests interested in applying should complete the application form and documentation, and submit them before 11:59 pm on February 28, 2018. Those nominating a priest should complete the separate nomination form designated for that specific purpose and submit that form before 11:59 pm on February 20, 2018, to provide time for the Search Committee to confirm the interest of the nominated priest in being considered.

Applicants should note the mandatory Candidates' Retreat scheduled for May 10-12, 2018 in Colorado. To be considered for the position of bishop through this search process, an applicant must be available to attend that retreat in person and must acknowledge their availability on the application form.

The Standing Committee requests individuals nominating a priest to first discuss with that priest the possibility of a call to this ministry and to encourage the priest to apply directly. If a nominator does not speak with the priest they wish to nominate, the nominator should indicate that on the nomination form. If the nominator wishes to remain anonymous to the person being nominated, there is a place on the nomination form to indicate that preference. Owing to the confidential nature of this process, anyone nominating a priest will receive no more than a return email acknowledging that the Search Committee has received the nomination.

All questions regarding the search process should be directed to
