Profile and Search Committees Announced

The Standing Committee of The Episcopal Church in Colorado announces the appointment of the Profile Committee and the Search Committee to aid in seeking our next bishop. The Profile Committee is charged with completing the profile by February 1, 2018. The Search Committee is charged with recommending a slate of four candidates by July 31, 2018. These dates were chosen to enable us to combine our bishop election with our Annual Convention, October 26-27, 2018.

Under the canons of The Episcopal Church, the Standing Committee is charged with supervising the election of our next bishop. The Standing Committee charged the Profile Committee with gathering information and data from regional gatherings, diocesan surveys, and parochial reports and then presenting that information and data in an online profile. The Standing Committee also charged the Search Committee with incorporating in their work the rich diversity of our diocese.

The Standing Committee has been gratified by the enthusiastic response of so many laity and clergy who indicated their willingness to serve on the committees, knowing the demands that involvement would place on them.

You can help in the bishop search process by volunteering for one of the remaining important steps in calling our new bishop. These opportunities will be announced on the BishopSearchCO.org website. We ask for your prayers for both the Profile Committee and the Search Committee as they undertake their work in calling a new bishop for The Episcopal Church in Colorado.

Bishop Search Process Upcoming Regional Gatherings

Consider joining your regional representatives for a time of prayer, discussion, and information-sharing about the bishop election process for The Episcopal Church in Colorado. You will have opportunity to reflect on the following four questions and your input will help guide the Profile Committee in their work:

  1. What do we value about our Region and congregations?
  2. In what areas and growing edges do we hope our new bishop will help us focus?
  3. Name the gifts and qualities you hope for in a new bishop.
  4. What else do we need to pay attention to? What hasn't been said?
